Police are appealing for witnesses following a crash which has left a cyclist with serious injuries.

The collision happened at around 4.30pm yesterday in Chelmer Road at the junction with Sandford Road, Chelmsford.

It involved a cyclist who was riding a Giant red cycle and a red Fiat Panda vehicle.

The cyclist, who is in his 70s and lives in the local area, was taken to Broomfield Hospital by ambulance after he suffered serious head and shoulder injuries.

He has been transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
