‘Mr Shop’ is leaving Bradwell for good and moving up to the Scottish Highlands.
Steve Tachauer, 61, of Blackberry Grove, Bradwell-on-Sea has been a well-known figure in the village since his family’s arrival four years ago.
Taking on central community roles such as sub postmaster, chairman of the parish council and manager of the community village shop, he was a central part of the community.
Mr Tachauer retired last Thursday, from his role in the four-year-old Bradwell Community Shop, which is entirely financed by those in the village.
He said: “It really has grown extensively.
"It was very emotional to leave the shop, Bradwell is the longest place we have stayed put and I will miss everything."
