The Dengie finally has an ambulance of its own, after years of campaigning.
Lengthy waiting times and ambulance delays left residents lobbying for an ambulance specifically for the area.
A full-time East of England ambulance was due to arrive in the area in April, but was hit by delays.
It began operating on Monday from the Queens Road ambulance station and will attend local call-outs 24 hours a day.
