A Maldon father-of-three will be tackling a 320-mile bike ride in memory of his “fantastic” mum.

Paul Corrigan, of Cross Road, lost his mum Linda to a brain tumour and the ride will make 20 years since her death.

Plumbing and heating engineer Mr Corrigan, 32, said: “My mother died of this horrible disease 20 years ago on the October 4 aged just 38, leaving three children devastated including myself aged just 12.

“It was the most difficult time of my life.

“I don’t think it matters what age you are, there is nobody like your own mum.

“I am really looking forward to taking part in this cycle ride for such an important cause that’s very close to my heart.”

Mr Corrigan and his brothers and cousins, who all live in Essex, hope to raise £5,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity as they cycle from London to Paris.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, yet less than 2 per cent of cancer research funding goes on brain tumours in the UK.
