An animal care centre has applied for permission to build a pet crematorium.
Clarks Farm Greyhounds Rescue, Wash Lane, Little Totham submitted an application for a crematorium, including an incinerator, to Maldon District Council in December 2013.
A decision is due by September 29.
Applicant Sandra Cobb, who runs the farm with husband Steve Cobb, explained in a covering letter the Farm would offer ‘a caring and considerate cremation service’.
Dean Cobb, 38, kennels manager at Clarks Farm, explained the idea arose because there was not a pet crematorium in the area.
He said: “When the time comes to make that decision, to have somewhere local to go, might make the process easier."
