Latchingdon sub-postmaster Anthony Stapleton, 63, lived and worked at the Post Office, The Street, for 27 years.

When he wanted to retire, after having a major operation in January, he and his wife Barbara, 75, struggled to sell the post office.

They had to change the use of the property to residential, before putting it on the market again.

In May they spoke of their frustration at the delay, but they are now emigrating to Corfu on September 26.

Mrs Stapleton said they ‘could not wait’ for the move.

She said: “We are still on track for Corfu.

“At long last it’s coming together.”

The post office has moved across the street, from a designated Post Office, to being part of Latchingdon News, also on The Street.
