A new vehicle is on the scene to aid Essex Search and Rescue with their missions following a donation from Magnox.

Essex Search and Rescue, which are based in Chelmsford, search for vulnerable missing people day and night.

Magnox, working in partnership with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and EnergySolutions, have donated £9,500 for a new command and control vehicle, which is deployed on every call out.

It is equipped with technology to allow the search control team to be in direct communication with the teams carrying out the search on the ground.

Paul Drew, Bradwell Site Director, said: “It’s clear that Essex Search and Rescue were in need of a reliable replacement for their aging vehicle to allow them to respond effectively to call outs anywhere in the county.

“We are delighted to be able to support the cost of the vehicle and hope it will serve the volunteers undertaking searches for missing children and adults in this area for many years.”
