With the V Festival starting on Friday, the Highways Agency is reminding road users to be prepared when travelling to the music festival.

The event, which is being staged at Hylands Park in Chelmsford from August 15-17, attracts more than 70,000 people over the course of the weekend.

The Highways Agency is working in partnership with the event organiser and local authorities to help festival-goers get to the camp site and to keep motorway traffic flowing.

Anyone travelling through the area is however, advised to allow extra time for their journey, or to plan an alternative route or time.

Nigel Allsopp, Highways Agency Events Planning Manager for the East of England, said: “Although there won’t be any road closures, we expect the A12 near Chelmsford, the M11 junctions 7 to 9 and M25 junctions 29 to 28 to be much busier than normal.

“The campsite opens at midday on Friday and closes at midday on Monday, August 18, so we expect the run-up to and from these times to be particularly busy. We also expect traffic to be busier in the area throughout the weekend."
