A scout hut which took seven months of work to refurbish is once again in use.

Burnham Scout Hut, used by 1st Burnham Sea Scouts, dated back to 1908 and had not been refurbished since the 1970s.

Mo Jay, 64, of Glendale Road, worked on the hut since January 2, helped by husband Nik, a former Scout and other volunteers.

The hut was officially opened by Ron Pratt on July 27, amid celebrations with local cubs, beavers and scouts.

Mo said: “We had beautiful weather for the opening, with food and stalls down there.

“The hut now has a music licence as well.”
