The 100th year of Maldon carnival procession was celebrated in style with plenty of floats, facepaint and fun.

The procession, last Saturday, went from Cross Road, Maldon, and ended in Promenade Park.

Crowds lining the route donated money for the collection buckets which will go to helping local charities.

Last year the carnival raised more than £1,900 which was donated to the Mayor of Maldon’s charitable fund.

Chairman of the carnival committee, Lee Clark, said: “My granddad was chairman years ago, so I have been involved my whole life.

“It was extremely hard work, you never realise how much work goes into the procession, but the atmosphere is fantastic, seeing everyone there makes you feel as if you have achieved something.

“It went far too quickly.”

If you were at the procession on Saturday, see if you can spot yourself in pictures in this week's Standard.
