A woman was left bleeding in the road after she was allegedly struck over the head with a full shopping bag containing bottles of wine.
Members of the public rushed to help and call the emergency services after the incident in Glynn Road, Burnham, on Friday.
The 56-year-old suffered minor head injuries and was taken to Broomfield Hospital by paramedics where she was treated for her injuries.
She is now recovering at home.
A spokesman for Essex Police confirmed that there were a couple of bottles of wine in the shopping bag and that the woman’s injuries were a result of the broken glass.
