Maldon's MP has brought up the district’s poor mobile phone coverage at the House of Commons.

The Standard reported last month how Vodafone customers were struggling to get a signal.

The company had there was a problem with one of its sites and would look at it as a “matter of priority.”

John Whittingdale brought the issue up with Sajid Javid, secretary of state for culture, media and sport, on Thursday, who said he will look into it .

A Vodafone spokesman said: “We were asked to leave our existing site when the land was required for redevelopment.

“Our engineers have been working hard to reconfigure a nearby site to replace the lost signal.

“Some of the work has been carried out and we hope to have the service up and running soon.”
