Colourful costumes, classic vehicles, fun and games will make for a carnival atmosphere at Tillingham Flower Show.

More than just a flower show, it has been held for decades.

This year’s event is on July 26 and kicks off with the grand parade, starting at 1pm from Manor Road, Dengie.

Awards are given for the best float, runner up float, best children’s group, best individual child and adult, best classic car and best motorcycle.

Judges are brought in from outside the village to maintain impartiality.

At 2pm, activities will get underway on The West Field in Vicarage Lane, Tillingham.

They include a gymnastics display, clog dancers, music from The Big Sing, an artisic demonstration and display, a dog scurry by Wobbly Ron and a tug of war.

See vintage tractors, classic cars and bikes, a fire engine display, browse craft stalls, pamper yourself with beauty treatments, enter the scarecrow competition, and see a First World War themed display produced by the pupils of St Nicholas Primary School.

Free entry to the show. Parking costs £2 per car.
