Maldon and Burnham Standard: Dr John Cormack Dr John Cormack

A doctor has won a national award for being a health hero.

Dr John Cormack, who works at The Greenwood Surgery in South Woodham Ferrers, was named Health Hero of the Year and met Prime Minister David Cameron.

He was praised for being contactable 24/7 by particularly ill patients, driving a widow to Southend to see a football match to cheer her up and helping a patient get out of hospital so he did not miss his 50th wedding anniversary party. He was wheeled into the party to the theme tune of the Great Escape.
