Heavy lorries have been blamed for the latest burst water main on one of the main roads through the Dengie.
Burnham Road in Latchingdon lifted up to 2ft in some places last Friday afternoon, villagers claimed.
Residents said heavy lorries are adding to the problem.
An Essex & Suffolk Water spokesman said a 7ft water main burst at the junction of Buchanan Way and Burnham Road.
"A few dozen properties were without high quality drinking water supplies during the incident and Essex & Suffolk Water engineers delivered bottled water to homes and provided a standpipe for residents to use," he said. Emergency repair work was complete by the evening, but further work was required on additional sections of the pipe nearer the junction with Rectory Lane over the weekend.
