A book about every Burnham man who served and died in the First World War has been published.
Walter Jenkins, who lives in Chapel Road, Burnham, was shocked to discover in 2012 that the war memorials in the town only portray the initials and surnames of the 98 men, and nothing more.
Since then, he has found out more about each one for his book, Our Dear and Brave Men – the Fallen of Burnham-on- Crouch 1914-1921.
Some of the book’s proceeds will be donated to Burnham’s Royal British Legion.
It is on sale at ourdearandbravemen.co.uk for £8.80 including p&p.
The book will be officially launched at Burnham Museum in Coronation Road on Saturday at 6.30pm.
