Detectives are looking for a man wanted in connection with an incident in which a pedestrian was hit by a car.
The 27-year-old victim was hit in The Street, Latchingdon, shortly before 2.30am on Saturday, February 15.
The driver did not stop and the pedestrian, a local man, suffered a serious leg injury. He is now recovering at home.
Det Con Louise Wilson said: "Gary Jeakins is a man who is of interest to us after he was highlighted as a central character to this investigation.
“We’ve been told that he hasn’t been in contact with any family members since February.
“We last knew him to be living on a couple of caravan parks in Southminster, but more recently has been residing in the Dalston area of north-east London.
“We are doing our best to find him, but now need the help of people living in London but also those living here in Essex.”
Three people have been arrested and are on bail until July 4, pending further enquiries.
They are a 52-year-old woman from Newham and two men aged 21 and 55 from Southminster.
Call Chelmsford police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
