Save Maldon Action Group hand over their petition

First published in News

Campaigners collected 3,700 signatures from residents opposed to Maldon District Council’s Local Development Plan.

The Save Maldon Action Group handed the petition to the council on Thursday.

Members want new homes to be concentrated in a new town near the existing railway line, which runs through South Woodham Ferrers to Southminster.

The council had received 3,688 responses from its public consultation held between August and October.

So that means how many didn't sign the petition? Far more than signed it.

And those that didn't sign the petition did so for many reasons including they don't care one way or the other about the plan and others didn't sign because they positively support the plan.

Do not assume that the group which makes the most noise has the most support...

Build more houses!

I know I shouldn't feed the trolls but I'll throw Jack222 a scrap or two..

I don't know if he's noticed what Save Maldon Action Group have been saying or if he's just pretending to ignore it. They actually say that it's likely that the Local Development Plan doesn't deliver ENOUGH housing and the the housing it's supposed to deliver is in the wrong place relative to the size of the scheme needed. In a nutshell of course, but fundamentally they think the Local Development Plan is unsound, a view that HM Government Inspector is beginning to share too.

But still, you just can't tell some people can you..

It’s ok… because the developers have come up with a great solution to get all the extra traffic into and out of Maldon.
Oh hang on…. NO they haven’t!!!

But what the developers have come up with is a great way to hoodwink the masses, by making vague references (not promises!) to a new hospital and referring to these cramped estates as ‘garden suburbs’. Luckily we’re blessed with a Council that can see through such jingoism and are wholly committed to improving Maldon and representing the views of its inhabitants.......Oh hang on....
