Police are appealing for witnesses following two assaults near Promenade Park, Maldon.

A young man has been left with what police described as "significant injuries" to his mouth requiring specialist treatment.

He was attacked at about 5pm yesterday, after a group of youths left the park via the High Street exit and turned into Park Drive.

A second young man was attacked in the skate park in Promenade Park at about 7pm.
