Detectives are appealing after a street robbery victim was stabbed in Chelmsford.

The robbery took place in Chelmsford on May 30.

Police are asking the public to contact them if they find or had found a old-style mobile phone in the area.

Police have searched and undertaken house to house enquiries but without success.

During the robbery which happened sometime between 1.30 and 2.30am, the 22-year-old victim from the Chelmsford area was stabbed by some sort of implement in the leg causing a wound, requiring stiches.

He was not immediately aware of the injury and went to a friend's house, before an ambulance was called. His phone was stolen.

The incident happened on Meadgate Avenue opposite the footpath leading up past the allotments and Royal British Legion to Chelwater and Baddow Road.

This is the same route the suspect appeared from and is thought to have fled to.

The suspect is described as over 6ft tall, medium build, wearing dark clothing, a hooded top and with a local accent.

Dc Ray Hull who is investigating is looking for anyone who saw anything suspicious or who may have found a old Nokia phone which may have been disposed of in the area. Dc Hull can be contacted at Chelmsford CID on 101 or people can give information via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
