Thousands of pounds has been earmarked to go towards making a main Burnham road safer, though residents will have to wait a year until improvements are put into place.
The B1010 Burnham to Cold Norton has had £18,500 signed off for improvements by Maldon District Local Highways Panel.
A technical review of the route will cost £5,000 while the remaining £13,500 will pay for any improvements that need to be made once the review is completed.
The review will focus on road markings, overtaking and whether the existing speed limits are practical and safe.
It is due to be finished in February 2015.
