Police officers have praised two members of the public who helped a driver who crashed into a pond in Latchingdon.
Pc Sam Pateman from Southminster police station was the first officer on scene at the collision in Lower Burnham Road, Latchingdon, which happened shortly before 4pm on Monday, May 19.
He said: "If it had not been for the fast actions of two builders in the vehicle behind, I think the lady driver probably would have had far worse injuries if not drowned in the car as I don’t think I would have been able to get her out in time on my own.”
The woman driver of the blue Vauxhall Meriva was taken by ambulance to Basildon Hospital and thankfully sustained only minor injuries.
Both men will receive official thanks for their courageous actions.
