Long awaited work to make a dangerous road safer could be a step closer.
Accidents and near misses have been reported on the B1021 Southminster Road/Tillingham Road in Asheldham, especially on the stretch known as the Asheldham bends.
The narrow road makes it difficult for larger vehicles to pass each other and cars have also left the road and crashed.
Asheldham and Dengie Parish Council asked the Maldon District Local Highways Panel to request county council funding for a scoping report to look into improving the bends.
Parish councillors are due to choose from three possible solutions and detailed work will be carried out on their preferred option, after another £6,000 from the panel’s pot was signed off towards the work.
