A grandmother is calling for people to get on their bikes and raise some cash for Help for Heroes this summer.
Keen fundraiser Glyness Rowell, of Buttercup Way, Southminster, has organised a sponsored bike ride around the Dengie on June 29 in aid of the charity, which supports wounded soldiers and their families.
Mrs Rowell, 65, said: “I used to know someone who had two artificial legs and I know how hard it can be for them and their families so we like to support Help for Heroes.
“It’s not a race just a healthy way to raise some money.”
The bike ride is free to enter and starts at 12noon in the Orchard Meadows children’s park, in Southfield Way, Southminster and the route will pass through Steeple, Tillingham, Bradwell, Mayland, Latchingdon and Althorne with a longer route carrying on to Cold Norton and Stow Maries before ending back at the Three Horseshoes Pub, in Althorne.
