A record-breaking marathon runner was left unconscious at a roadside after being hit by a truck.
Fiona Oakes, who runs Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary, in Asheldham, was on a training run on Sunday when she was struck by a blue truck in a country lane.
Mrs Oakes, 43, said: “It all happened really quickly. I was around 1.3 miles from home after running 18 miles that afternoon.
“The truck squeezed past me and there must have been something overhanging from behind it as that is what whacked me."
