A new Maldon mayor has been appointed.

Stephen Nunn, of Fambridge Road, was chosen by Maldon Town Council to be the town’s 205th mayor.

Retired Mark Heard, of Essex Road, was appointed as his deputy.

Mr Nunn, a local historian, said: “As a Maldonian born and bred I feel highly honoured and privileged to serve in this capacity."

He added: “Our joint objective will be to focus on the town and the work of local groups and organisations within its boundary. That will be our main priority.”

Congratulations to Mr. Nunn and worthy candidate and I'm sure that he'll do a great job for the town which he clearly loves and has respect for.
