A Scout troop has received a donation out of the blue, to help continue work restoring their hut.

Mo Jay, 64, of Glendale Road has been working on the refurbishment of the 1st Burnham Sea Scouts hut for five months.

She was working on the Millfields, Burnham, hut, when Muir Wasson, treasurer of Royal Burnham Freemasons Lodge, asked if the Masons could be of assistance.

Mrs Jay said: “I explained what my small team of volunteers had achieved so far and what was still to be done.”

The Lodge donated £1,000 to the refurbishment committee to help with the repairs to the hut.

Charity steward Russell Rainger, 51, of Cedar Grove explained the Masons often help financially in the community.

He said: "We want to put some of the money we raise annually back into the community."
