The Archbishop of Canterbury will be visiting Bradwell tomorrow.

The Most Reverend Justin Welby will celebrate Eucharist at St Peter's Chapel in the morning, before meeting members of the Othona Community.

St Peter’s Chapel was founded by St Cedd in the 7th century along with a Celtic-style community at nearby Othona.

The chapel is where Cedd brought Christianity to the East Saxons.

Over breakfast at the modern Othona Community, the archbishop will engage in conversation about new monastic communities being developed in Essex.

Gail Dell, co-warden of the Othona Community, said: “At Othona we seek personal renewal and glimpses of the sacred through sharing in a daily rhythm of work, learning, worship and play.

“We explore the relationship between faith and a life which is lived in community and we encourage one another in caring for the world and its people.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the Archbishop to sample our hospitality.”

The archbishop's visit is part of the Diocese of Chelmsford's centenary celebrations.
