A cancer survivor has represented a charity that supported her following her diagnosis.
Michaela Dunn, of Norfolk Close, Maldon, was just 23 when she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) in March last year but was supported in her battle against the disease by Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Now 25, she is in remission and represented the charity on May 9 at the third stage of the Friends Life Women’s Tour cycle race from Felixstowe to Clacton-on-Sea.
She presented the Best of British jersey to the fastest British rider, Lizzie Armitstead, on behalf of the charity, the race’s official charity partner.
She said: “This time last year I was in hospital having treatment, so to be up there representing Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and presenting the Best of British jersey is really amazing.
“Hopefully I can inspire other people in a similar situation and show them that there is a reason to go on and fight the disease."
