A charity fundraiser in memory of a teenager who died after contracting influenza will be held this weekend.
Melissa Price, 19, died in January after the virus caused multiple organ failure and respiratory distress syndrome.
Family and friends of the former William de Ferrers School pupil, from South Woodham Ferrers, are holding Mel’s May Day on Saturday, May 17 to raise money for Papworth Hospital in Cambridge and Havens Hospices.
The community funday will be held at William de Ferrers School from 11am to 4pm and include local bands, bouncy castles, sport tournaments, a guest appearance from Peppa Pig, stalls, a raffle and auctions of items, including signed merchandise from West Ham and Tottenham Football Club.
