Cricket stars will be turning out at Maldon to support Alastair Cook’s charity benefit year.

Cooky, Monty Panesar, Essex captain James Foster, former captain Mark Pettini, bowling legend David Masters and Graham Napier will be at Maldon Cricket Club on Sunday.

Other stars from the Essex team are also expected to support the Cooky’s Big Six day, which is raising money for four charities including the Maldon-based David Randall Foundation, of which he is patron.

Alastair, who is still a member of the club, said: “ I have been looking forward to Sunday for a long time”.

Each cricketing star will lead a team, with each side playing two games of seven overs per side.

There will also be a visit from Essex mascots Eddie and Ellie Eagle, licensed bars, barbecue and hog roast plus the chance to test your reactions against Alastair and the Essex boys on a special piece of apparatus.

Gates open at 9.30am and the cricket gets under way at 10.30am.

During the day there will be a number of auctions of England and Essex memorabilia together with a raffle and live music when play ends at 7pm.

Admission is free for accompanied children, and £5 per adult, which includes a 32 page commemorative programme.
