Residents in a village street are coping with one of the lowest broadband speeds in Britain, according to a new survey.
With average download speeds of 1.15 megabits per second (mbps), Princes Avenue in Mayland has been ranked the 16th slowest street by price comparison service uSwitch.
It is the second slowest street in Essex, topped only by Wheatley Road in Corringham, which came top of the pile with a download speed of just 0.6mbps.
The sluggish speed is all too familiar with Sharon Alford, who has lived in Princes Avenue for nine years.
The mum-of-three, who is self-employed in the music and promotion sector, said her business suffered because of the poor internet speeds.
She said: “It was awful, you couldn’t do anything."
