A SINGER-songwriter from South Woodham is aiming to reach the Miss England finals for the second time.

Devon Mayson, 21, of South Woodham is competing in the Miss Essex finals at Genting Club, Westcliff, on Wednesday.

During the competition she has been fundraising for the charity 'Beauty with a Purpose', raising money for disadvantaged children globally, by putting on acoustic performances and holding club nights at Eclipse nightclub.

She has so far raised almost £250.

If Devon wins Miss Essex on Wednesday she will go on to compete in the Miss England finals.

The competition will involve a military style bootcamp, fundraising, catwalks and a talent show.

Devon said: "This year I have been chosen for the final 16 to represent our beautiful county.

"If I were to win Miss Essex this year, I would be back in the final representing the place I live, work and was born in."
