The Rose and Crown will keep serving

A village pub is still open, despite plans to turn it into a house.

Paul and Valda Thorn, of The Rose and Crown in D’Arcy Road, Tolleshunt Knights, are still serving customers while they wait to hear Maldon District Council’s decision on their planning application.

They want to change the pub back into a house and have also applied to build four two-bedroomed chalets with garages.

The pub is no longer viable as a business and made a loss of £30,171 between 2008 and 2012.

Mr and Mrs Thorn are determined to serve customers until the council makes a decision at a future date.
