RSPCA officers are appealing for information after a dead foal was found dumped in a ditch.

The young foal was found on Tuesday at the entrance to a field in South Woodham Ferrers.

The black-and-white horse was discovered by a member of the public on Workhouse Lane, South Woodham Ferrers.

RSPCA inspector Steve Craddock said: “It was a very distressing discovery.

“It concerns us greatly about the sort of welfare issues that could have caused such a premature death.”
