Plans for 2,610 homes in Maldon have come under fire from Chelmsford City Council.

The authority has labelled Maldon District Council’s Local Development Plan (LDP) unsound, claiming it had “failed to fully recognise and adequately mitigate the potential highway impacts of their planned growth on the residents of Danbury and Little Baddow”.

Queues on the A414 at Eves Corner are expected to be three times as long by 2026 if the homes in Maldon and Heybridge are built, with more than 750 vehicles queuing in the morning and more than 558 in the evening.

A Chelmsford Council spokesman said: “This would have significant adverse impacts for residents and businesses using this junction."
