A convenience store is due to open this summer.

Morrisons was granted an alcohol licence for the old post office in Maldon High Street, where it plans to open an M Local, last month.

A spokesman said: “We are underway with recruitment for the store and will have a great team in place.

“We aim to open during the summer and look forward to updating the community further as we progress”

It will create about 20 jobs. The company is currently advertising for a team leader.

This is undoubtably good news for those who've been hired to work in this shop but I just can't see this 'convenience store' working.

This is a non-residential area with very little footfall after 6pm. Most convenience stores have car parking facilities, this has non whatsoever unless you are going to pay 90p to park in the White Horse car park and then cross the road...making it a very 'inconvenient store'.

I forsee a string of parked cars and delivery vehicles clogging up this part of the High St.

Should have been a Wetherspoons, but MDC managed to mess that up rather spectaculary.
