A ten per cent hike in parking charges in four Maldon car parks could be given the go ahead next month.

Maldon District Council’s finance and corporate services committee has recommended the council approve the rises at White Horse Lane, Butt Lane, High Street East and Friary Fields.

It also supported increasing charges at Promenade Park for up to four hours from £4 to £5 and all day from £5 to £6.

Other recommendations include a new two hour tariff and six 30 minute free parking bays at Butt Lane car park.

Councillors will make a final decision next month.
