A council boss is due to get a one per cent pay rise.
Maldon District Council approved the raise for chief executive Fiona Marshall and the authority’s strategic director, in line with the one per cent pay increase already approved for staff this financial year.
Last month, councillors agreed to overhaul the senior management structure and save up to £180,000 a year.
There are seven heads of service, a chief executive and a strategic director, with pay scales ranging from £53,025 to £103,020.
Some could be made redundant as the council will receive £453,000 less from the Government than the last financial year – a drop of 41 per cent compared to five years ago.
