Work to build on a multi-million pound riverside development has been pushed forward after an appeal to extend the time limit was rejected.
Builders are required to make “a mindful start” on the 93-home development at the Sadd's Wharf site, in Station Road, Maldon, within 10 months otherwise permission will lapse.
Applicant the Baltic Consortium wanted to extend the limit on building the development by three years but district councillors refused - and now Government Planning Inspectorate Chris Hoult has dismissed their appeal.
Architect Stephen Lavin, of RAL Architects Ltd, which is involved in the design, said: “We are definitely still going ahead, we just wanted more time because we’re busy - we have dozens of projects on the go at any one time.
“It just means we have brought our plans forward."
