A volunteer centre has been given £250,000 to help lonely and unconfident people.
Maldon and District Community Voluntary Service in Heybridge secured the Big Lottery Fund money for its Maldon Active Support Team.
They will encourage people to get involved with their community through volunteering, social groups and clubs and supports those who want to do more but lack confidence or motivation to take the first step.
The Maldon Active Support Team will be a combination of two existing projects, the Harbour coffee mornings in Heybridge and Southminster, and supported volunteering.
