A man in his 60s was rescued after he became stuck in the mud in Maldon.
South Woodham Ferrers coastguard were called at 12.24am last Sunday after a man had fallen into the banks of the River Blackwater from the Hythe Quay.
A Thames Coastguard spokesman said: “The call came into us from the East of England ambulance service and I believe the man had been pulled out already by the time the coastguard arrived.”
One fire engine from Maldon was also dispatched to the scene at 12.21am but the man was out of the mud when they arrived.
Paul Jeffries, owner and skipper of Topsail Charters, said the man had fallen off the Quay by the side of Thames Sailing Barge, Hydrogen.
