The amount of people out of work in the Maldon district has dropped by a quarter in one year, latest figures reveal.
Since February last year, unemployment has continued to fall each month until last month, when 683 people claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance.
By contrast, 924 people claimed unemployment benefit in February 2013, according to latest figures by the Office for National Statistics.
Maldon MP John Whittingdale raised the figures in the House of Commons last Wednesday and said to the Prime Minister that unemployment in the district had fallen by 27 per cent since the last election.
