Too many patients for too few GPs and lack of money for health services were among issues raised by concerned patients.

More than 100 people attended a public meeting at St Peter’s Hospital, Maldon, on Tuesday March 11, to discuss the NHS in Maldon.

Patients said the meeting had helped explain how the NHS works, following changes last year which saw doctors take responsibility for commissioning services.

Trevor Fernades, chair of the Blackwater Patient Reference Group, which organised the meeting, said: “The patient community told us they don’t know what the changes were within the NHS or how it would impact on them.

“People were hungry for the information."
