Villagers are up in arms after council officers recommended that a development of almost 50 new homes on their doorstep should be approved.

Members of the Latchingdon Village Community Group fear that if 46 homes are built at Bridgemans Farm, Bridgemans Green, it will cause one of the busiest roads in the Dengie to become gridlocked.

District councillors will consider the planning application for the new estate, which would include 15 affordable houses and either a coffee shop or community hub, at Burnham Town Council’s offices on Monday.

More than 30 residents sent in letters of objection, citing concerns that Bridgemans Green can only serve up to 25 properties and that the devolopment would endanger users of the zebra crossing.
