Morrisons has been granted an alcohol licence for a convenience store in Maldon, paving the way for them to move into the High Street.
District councillors decided to grant the licence for the retailer to sell alcohol from 6am to midnight at the former post office premises, at a licensing sub-committee meeting on Monday.
The move will create up to 20 jobs.
The Standard understands that they do not need to apply for planning permission to move into the building, as the premises is already under commercial use.
