Firefighters worked through the night to put out a blaze involving 600 tonnes of baled straw.
Two crews from Maldon and one crew from South Woodham Ferrers were called to Burnham Road, Hazeleigh, at 11.35pm last night.
An Essex County Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Firefighters arriving at the scene reported that the straw was well alight.
"After bringing the fire under control, the straw is being allowed to burn out under control."
