Sharing of health records comes under scrutiny as database project delayed
3:00pm Wednesday 26th February 2014 in News
Sharing of health records has come under the spotlight in recent years, most recently with care.data, which has now been delayed due to concerns from health professionals.
The NHS wants to use information about the care patients have received to help improve the quality of care and health services and ensure any unacceptable standards are identified quickly.
However, the British Medical Association, Royal College of General Practitioners, Healthwatch and other groups say patients need more time to learn about information sharing, the benefits and their right to object.
The Standard explores the issues and asks local residents what they think in Thursday's paper.
