A sign antagonising anti-Tesco campaigners has appeared on a Maldon pub.
After months of campaigning, residents lost their fight to stop a store opening at The Cups pub in Wantz Road, after a planning inspectorate overturned Maldon District Council’s decision in January.
Permission for a new 260 convenience store was allowed, despite the council saying that it would have a detrimental effect on traffic congestion, highway safety and on street parking.
This week, a sign emblazoned with the words “Well done Tesco” was attached to the side of the pub.
The pub, which closed at the weekend, also has the words wiped into the blackened out windows.
