Brothers thought to be country's only double amputee twins

Maldon and Burnham Standard: Jim and Ted Durey Jim and Ted Durey

Identical twins Ted and Jim Durey are thought to be the only known pair of double amputee twins in the country.

The 70-year-olds lost their legs to infections related to diabetes.

Ted, of Orchard Road, Maldon, also faced 13 years of blindness, which was finally cured with a pioneering operation.

But the active pair have not let their health problems get in the way of their careers or social lives.
